Tree Risk Management for 64-Acre Campus — Radbroke Hall, Knutsford

THE CHALLENGE:

Radbroke Hall is a 64-acre corporate campus near Knutsford in Cheshire East, home to one of the UK's largest financial services organisations. The campus contains a substantial and varied tree population — mature parkland trees in the formal grounds, woodland blocks on the campus boundary, and established amenity planting throughout the car parks and pedestrian areas — all set within a historic designed landscape of significant arboricultural character.

The campus operator required a comprehensive, professionally documented tree risk management programme covering the full 64-acre estate — providing a defensible audit trail of inspection and assessment, and a clear prioritised works schedule for their facilities management team.

OUR ROLE:



Urban Tree Management carried out a complete tree inventory and risk assessment across the full 64-acre Radbroke Hall campus using digital tree management software and GPS survey equipment. All trees were visually assessed, condition and risk-rated, and all findings recorded to produce a georeferenced tree inventory and risk management report for the estate. Where trees showed signs of potential internal defects, specialist decay detection using sonic tomography and Resistograph resistance drilling was deployed to provide objective condition data before management recommendations were finalised.

A full tree risk management plan was produced incorporating a prioritised works schedule and future inspection frequency recommendations for all trees across the campus.

THE OUTCOME:

The Radbroke Hall campus operator received a complete, defensible tree risk management dataset covering all 64 acres of the estate — providing the audit trail of inspection and assessment needed to demonstrate duty of care compliance to their corporate governance and insurance teams, a prioritised works schedule for their facilities management contractor, and a georeferenced tree inventory that supports long-term campus landscape planning.
