Tree Decay Detection for Arborists & Arboricultural Consultants
Urban Tree Management provides specialist tree decay detection investigations — using the Arbotom sonic tomography system and IML Resistograph — on a subcontract basis for arborists, tree surgeons, and arboricultural consultants across the North West and nationwide.
If you have identified a tree requiring advanced internal investigation but do not have access to the equipment or the training to carry it out yourself, we can attend site, carry out the investigation, and provide a professionally produced written report — under your brand if preferred — within an agreed timescale.
Why Subcontract Decay Detection?
Sonic tomography and Resistograph resistance drilling are specialist techniques requiring significant equipment investment and ongoing training to use accurately and interpret correctly. Most arboricultural practices — even experienced ones — do not carry this equipment in house, and the volume of work requiring it does not always justify the investment.
Urban Tree Management has the equipment, the training, and the day-to-day experience to carry out these investigations accurately and produce reports that are technically robust, defensible, and accepted by local planning authorities, insurers, and legal advisors.
Subcontracting decay detection to Urban Tree Management allows you to offer your clients a complete arboricultural service without the capital outlay or the risk of carrying out specialist investigations outside your core competency. We work discreetly and professionally, and are happy to attend site alongside you or independently depending on your preference.
What We Provide
Urban Tree Management provides Arbotom sonic tomography investigations producing two-dimensional and three-dimensional tomographic images of the internal condition of tree stems and branches. We also carry out IML Resistograph resistance drilling providing resistance profile data across the full diameter of the stem, wind load analysis using ArWiLo software where crown reduction is being assessed as a risk management measure, structural strength assessment using ArboStApp where quantified evidence of residual structural competence is required, and ArboRadix root plate mapping where root system integrity is in question.
All investigations are documented in a professionally produced written report including the instrument outputs, the surveyor's interpretation, and clear management recommendations.
Turnaround & Availability
Urban Tree Management aims to attend site within five working days of instruction for standard subcontract investigations, with same-day or next-day attendance available for urgent cases. Written reports are typically delivered within 48 hours of the site visit. We cover Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside, and the wider North West as standard, and are available for investigations further afield by arrangement.
White Label Reports
Where preferred, Urban Tree Management can produce decay detection reports under your own company branding, allowing you to present the findings to your client as part of your own service offering. Please discuss this at the time of instruction and we will agree the appropriate format and attribution for the report.
Contact Us to Discuss a Referral
If you have a tree requiring specialist decay investigation, call or email Urban Tree Management to discuss availability and agree a programme. We are happy to discuss the case informally before instructing, and to advise on whether sonic tomography, Resistograph, or a combination of both is the most appropriate investigation for the specific tree and situation.
