BS5837 Tree Survey for New Medical Centre Development — Manchester

Client: Healthcare Developer, Manchester

Project Overview: A developer proposing a new medical centre in Manchester required a full BS5837 arboricultural planning package to support their planning application to Manchester City Council. The site contained several trees of significant amenity value in the neighbouring conservation area requiring careful assessment and protection planning.

Our Role: Urban Tree Management delivered the complete BS5837 planning package — tree survey, Tree Constraints Plan, Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Tree Protection Plan, and Arboricultural Method Statement — working directly with the design team at feasibility stage to optimise the site layout before submission.

Findings & Recommendations:

  • Full BS5837 survey completed — all trees assessed and categorised
  • Tree Constraints Plan produced in AutoCAD
  • AIA identified all direct and indirect impacts with mitigation measures
  • TPP and AMS produced to Manchester City Council's validation requirements

Outcome: The planning application was validated and approved with the arboricultural documents meeting Manchester City Council's requirements without requests for additional information — demonstrating the value of early arboricultural involvement in the design process.
