Post Construction Tree Survey — Edge of Delamere Forest, Cheshire

THE CHALLENGE:

Following the completion of a development project on the edge of Delamere Forest in Cheshire, the developer required a post construction arboricultural survey to verify that tree protection measures had been correctly maintained throughout the construction programme and that the retained trees had not suffered damage or deterioration during the works.

The site's proximity to Delamere Forest — one of the most ecologically significant woodland areas in Cheshire — meant that the local authority and Natural England had a particular interest in the outcome of the construction phase, and the developer needed a professionally documented post construction record that demonstrated full compliance with the approved Tree Protection Plan.

OUR ROLE:

Urban Tree Management carried out a post construction inspection of all retained trees and tree protection measures across the site, assessing each tree's current condition and comparing it with the baseline condition recorded in the pre-construction survey.

The inspection verified that tree protection fencing had been correctly maintained in position throughout the construction period, that no unauthorised activity had taken place within exclusion zones, and that no significant changes in soil levels, drainage, or ground conditions had occurred within root protection areas. Where minor issues were identified, these were documented and management recommendations provided.

THE OUTCOME:

The developer received a comprehensive post construction arboricultural report providing a clear, documented record of tree protection compliance throughout the construction programme — giving them the evidence needed to discharge the relevant planning conditions and demonstrate to the local authority and Natural England that the development had been completed in full accordance with the approved arboricultural methodology.

All retained trees were assessed as having maintained their pre-construction condition, confirming that the protection measures had been effectively implemented throughout the build.
