Arboriculture & Ecology

Tree assessments for ecologists involve evaluating the health, condition, irreplaceable  habitats  and potential impacts of trees, particularly in relation to planned developments or ecological surveys. This includes assessing their value, identifying potential constraints, and recommending mitigation measures to protect trees and their associated wildlife habitats.

Trees Assessments for Ecologists

Biodiversity Net Gain is an increasingly important part of planning regulations, requiring developments to leave biodiversity in a better state than before. We can asset with tree assessments and data collection of sites and mapping for BNG assessments for ecology projects and help provide a thorough evaluation of existing habitats and deliver clear, actionable plans to meet biodiversity targets and enhance the natural environment along with  tree planting advice, appropriate species selection and landscape enhancement.

Our consultants and associates who carry out visual tree assessments (VTA) and inspections are PTI Qualified and academically qualified to Level 6 Diploma in Arboriculture and Professional Members of the Arboricultural Association. QTRA Registered users are authorized to conduct tree risk assessments and possess an Enhanced DBS checked to work within educational and healthcare institutions.

Digital Survey Mapping

Using our mapping software to plot any tree that requires work we produce plans that clearly show the location of all these trees and habitats. We translate survey results into detailed maps, by our consultants who are proficient with AutoCAD and GIS software systems. We map assets and features over Ordnance Survey (OS) base maps, captured using our GPS tablet computers or smartphones in the field.  Our plans are issued in AutoCAD and PDF formats and can be used in conjunction with other architectural/design drawings.

  • Tree planting advice, appropriate species selection and landscape enhancement including Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).
  • Supervision/Site monitoring – overseeing tree work on important trees, supervising groundwork around tree root protection areas.
  • Tree Officer Liaison
  • BS5837 Tree Survey and Tree Constraints Plan – required for most planning applications
  • Tree Impact Assessment – which trees should be retained/removed.
  • Tree Protection Plan/Method Statement – preserving the health of important trees during a build.
